Information requested by private citizens has been obtained and reveals that City Council Candidate Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza has violated multiple Texas Ethics Laws and has been cited to appear before the Texas Ethics Commission.
Elizabeth Chisum De La Garza has been under investigation by the Texas Ethics Commission since May 17, 2020 due to multiple violations.
According to the complaint filed, candidate Chisum De La Garza violated multiple ethics laws among them:
Chisum De La Garza failed to appoint a campaign treasurer before collecting and spending campaign funds which violates TEC 252.001 and TEC 253.031. Chisum then again violated said codes by purchasing and posting signs without stating or designating a treasurer.
Chisum failed to file a semi-annual campaign finance report in violation of TEC 254.063
Chisum failed to disclose two finance reports in violation of TEC 254.064
Chisum failed to disclose multiple campaign donations and expenditures in violation of TEC 254.031
This case will be heard by the Texas Ethics Commission in a preliminary review hearing on September 14, 2020.
Chisum De La Garza has been cited to appear before the Texas Ethics Commission.
